Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

About the Role:

This is a key position in our diagnostic imaging department, requiring a high level of expertise and knowledge to provide a quality radiology service to all patients. The successful candidate will work closely with the Radiology Services Manager to ensure that best practices are implemented and maintained.

Main Responsibilities:

The role involves working knowledge of radiology policies and procedures, provision of a high-quality clinical imaging service, and ensuring all audit requirements are undertaken. The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist will be responsible for managing the list of examinations each day, operating diagnostic imaging equipment safely, and communicating effectively with department staff, radiologists, wards, and other hospital departments. They will also accept and justify routine diagnostic imaging referrals, complete and maintain documentation related to ordering, administration, and scanning with diagnostic imaging modalities, and properly identify all patients according to hospital policy.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a degree in radiography or diploma from the College of Radiographers, registration with CORU Radiographers Registration Board, and minimum 3 years post-qualification clinical experience. A postgraduate qualification or specialized modality experience is desirable. You should have comprehensive knowledge of procedures and safety related to MRI, ultrasound, radiation, and contrast agents, as well as the ability to monitor and report equipment faults and participate in audits and evaluations under guidance.
