Associate Director - Governance, Risk and Compliance - BRS
Grant Thornton’s Advisory Business Risk Services (BRS) team is currently seeking a driven and self‑motivated professional person with experience in Financial Services Regulatory (including Financial Crime) Compliance to join the management team in Dublin.
The BRS team has grown substantially in recent years and performs a variety of services to clients in the areas of Regulatory Advisory, Financial Crime / AML and Governance, Risk Management and Regulatory Compliance (GRC). The successful candidate should have Financial Services experience working in risk and compliance roles, either within a regulator, directly for a regulated financial institution, or from a similar team within consultancy firms.
Key opportunities include building relationships, working on international secondments and leading assignments across Banking, Asset Managers, Investment Managers, Payment Services and E‑Money, Gaming, and Crypto.
Main Responsibilities
Lead projects involving multiple team members and client deliverables.
Provide technical expertise as a Subject Matter Expert on 2nd or 3rd line of defence projects, deliver regulatory mandatory review work (e.g. on behalf of the Central Bank of Ireland or other competent authority), and assist in delivery with international offices and clients.
Interpret and implement regulations.
Plan and manage projects, meeting all deadlines in a timely manner.
Review client documentation in relation to regulatory requirements.
Work closely with client senior management, up to and including board‑level directors.
Prepare detailed reports outlining project deliverables and professional recommendations.
Involve with the management team in strategic business development activities, identifying client needs, opportunities and working on proposals for new business.
Actively develop new business opportunities and collaborate with other Grant Thornton departments.
Skills And Attributes
Strong technical knowledge of regulation and financial regulator rules and guidance procedures.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in relevant risk and compliance roles.
In‑depth knowledge of the regulatory landscape for regulated financial institutions in Ireland and internationally, including financial crime risk topics.
Experience leading and managing high‑performing teams.
Detail understanding of current regulation with ability to develop specialism in new regulation areas.
Highly motivated, able to work independently within a challenging and dynamic environment.
Outstanding communication (both spoken and written) and people skills.
Proven project management, networking and influencing skills.
Third‑level qualification in a related area. Desirable certifications: CAMS, Professional Diploma in Compliance (ACOI), or similar.
Strong client focus and relationship management.
Strong project management and problem‑solving skills for local and global projects.
Team player prepared to lead.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proven business development skills.
