Role Description
SMBC's Regulatory Reporting IT is responsible for supporting Controllers to file financial reports to FED and other US regulatory boards. The team focuses on creating/managing applications to process, orchestrate and curate data from multiple systems for reporting purposes. The Vice President will be responsible for data analysis and working closely with stakeholders across SMBC Americas.

Role Objectives: DeliveryWe are looking for a business/data analyst to join our team and help us deliver key Regulatory Reporting IT initiatives. You will be responsible for:Working with large and complex datasets using various tools and techniquesAnalyzing and interpreting data to identify trends, patterns, and anomaliesDeveloping and maintaining knowledge of finance systems and financial products and processesProviding execution support and process monitoring while driving rigor throughout the process.Communicating effectively with stakeholders and presenting analysis findings and recommendationsLeading and facilitating project workshop sessions with cross-functional teamsFocus on improving governance, efficiency and control through process optimization, and proactively identifying and remediating areas of regulatory deficiencies.Identify opportunities for automation, increased transparency, and enhancement of business processes.Prepare executive-ready presentations and updates, including concise and clear visual artifacts to support management understanding. Collaborating with other analysts, developers, and project managers to ensure quality and timely delivery of projects

Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you should have:A bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as business, finance, economics, statistics, or computer scienceAt least 3 years of experience as a business or data analyst in the finance industry, working on large-scale initiativesExperience with using product data modelsProficiency in data analysis tools and languages such as SQL, Python, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, etc.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skillsExcellent interpersonal skills with ability to successfully influence and build effective partnerships with all levels of team members and colleaguesAbility to work as part of a team and independently in ambiguous environments that are not clearly definedAbility to be flexible and follow tight deadlinesProactive self-starter with ability to prioritize efforts across multiple projects and manage competing deadlinesPassion for learning and staying updated with the latest trends and developments in the finance and data domainsExcellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills commensurate with production and presentation of management-ready materials. Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel applications
