Job Title: Fermented Foods Research Specialist
Job Description:
As a Fermented Foods Research Specialist, you will be involved in all aspects of our research project focused on microbiology, fermented food development, and microbiome analysis. You will work closely with the project lead to coordinate budgets, manage administrative tasks, data, risk, logistics, and timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
* Characterise fermented foods and gut microbiomes
* Culture fermented food microbes to generate new communities and foods
* Prepare for and co-ordinate pig studies
* Contribute to management of the project and supervision of PhD students
Qualifications and Skills:
We are seeking a postgraduate degree holder or researcher with experience in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Microbiology. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated research and technical expertise in characterisation, development, and scale-up of fermented foods, bioinformatic analysis of microbiome data, working with animal models, and evidence of research activity and future scholarly output.
Requirements:
* Demonstrated research and technical expertise relating to one or more of the following
* Excellent project management, analytical, report writing, and data analysis skills
* Experience in analyzing gut metagenomic data and setting own research agenda
* Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with relevant partners
* Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation) with an ability to enable effective knowledge and technology transfer
