Logistics Assistant
We have a vacancy in our Logistics Department for a Logistics Assistant. Primary duties include: (i) liaising with other departments to ensure the smooth transportation of goods from the warehouse to the customer, (ii) resolving driver queries as they arise, (iii) organising pallets for third party couriers, and (iv) managing maintenance with garages.
Responsibilities
The role of the Logistics Assistant, whilst not exhaustive nor in order of importance is:
Route planning - Ensuring route plans cater for customers and are time efficient.
Assisting drivers with queries e.g., relating to customer information, location, etc.
Liaising with third party logistics companies to organise transport of goods.
Maintaining the fleet - e.g., logging faults, arranging servicing, maintaining tax and insurance, reporting accidents, etc.
Relief driving required to cover holidays, absence, etc.
Provide support to the delivery team if they've had a vehicle breakdown.
General administration and filing tasks within the department.
Effectively manage, track, and close any issues with orders, in co-operation with established customers and internal teams.
Log any customer complaints with the Customer Service team.
Liaise with the Customer Service and warehouse teams around customer returns.
Assist with loading of vans for deliveries if necessary.
Assist with labelling of orders to be shipped with third party couriers.
Manage the time management system to ensure driver subsistence claims, rosters, holiday planning and clocking is recorded correctly.
Carry out periodic checks on the fleet to ensure it is compliant with legal requirements and report any faults to the Logistics Manager.
The Ideal Candidate:
Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Over 25 - For insurance purposes
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Sees a task through to completion
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
High standard of Customer Service skills
Geographical knowledge of towns, cities, and counties an advantage
Available to work flexible hours - Up to 9pm and some Saturdays, Sundays, and Bank Holidays is a requirement of this role.
Package: €32,000 (depending on experience).
