The Position
We are looking for an
Electrical & Instrumentation Project Manager
to join the experienced on-site engineering team. In this role, you will act as the key technical expert, providing essential support from the initial concept of projects right through to their successful commissioning and operation for a large automation project.
Responsibilities
* Taking the lead on the scoping, design, and installation of Electrical, Instrumentation & Automation (EI&A) projects.
* Ensuring new systems are developed effectively and handed over seamlessly to operational teams.
* Preparing User Requirement Specifications (URS) and defining project scopes.
* Selecting and sizing electrical and instrument equipment for both ATEX and non-ATEX environments.
* Overseeing project design, conducting risk assessments, and providing key input into HAZOP studies.
* Preparing budgets and capital requests for EI&A projects and advising on these elements for other projects.
* Developing and managing project schedules to ensure timely delivery.
* Coordinating and directing contractors during the installation and implementation phases.
* Reviewing and approving technical documentation, including design packages, loop sheets, and certification.
* Acting as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the EI&A discipline, providing guidance and ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
Experience
* Strong practical experience in electrical design, including motor and cable sizing.
* Hands-on experience with installing and commissioning automated control systems (DCS/SCADA); Eurotherm experience is a distinct advantage.
* A solid understanding of working in an ATEX environment.
* Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage budgets and schedules.
* The ability to solve problems logically and perform well under pressure.
* Strong communication skills and the confidence to present project proposals to management.
* Proficiency in standard office software; experience with AutoCAD is beneficial.
