Senior Engineering Manager – Abbott Vascular, Clonmel

Responsibilities
Own the manufacturing engineering function and drive performance, transformation, and operational excellence across a high‑volume production site.
Develop and lead a highly engaged, high‑performing engineering team; coach, mentor, and enable senior engineers and supervisors.
Provide robust, real‑time engineering support to manufacturing operations and lead structured problem‑solving initiatives (root cause, CAPA, lean).
Lead continuous improvement in efficiency, quality, and equipment performance and support new product introduction.
Shape site strategy on the Site Leadership Team, influencing key business priorities and driving cross‑functional partnerships.
Own and manage the engineering budget and capital planning, forecasting headcount, equipment investment, and infrastructure.
Set engineering priorities aligned with safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) and ensure consistent execution of key programs.
Own site‑level performance outcomes, reporting on yield, productivity, quality, and cost metrics.
Qualifications
NFQ Level 7 qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related engineering discipline.
9 + years’ experience in manufacturing engineering, including leadership roles in high‑volume, operational environments.
Strong mechanical engineering expertise with hands‑on understanding of manufacturing systems, process development, equipment optimisation, and regulatory compliance (FDA, ISO).
Proven success leading teams with a people‑intensive, less automated focus.
Exceptional structured problem‑solving capability (root cause, data‑driven decisions) and ability to drive change and performance improvement.
Ambitious, career‑driven, confident influencing executive stakeholders, and comfortable operating at senior leadership level.
Strong judgement balancing risk, performance, and business impact.
