Applications are invited for the following position:
Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) For Adults with Intellectual Disability (ID) Grade Code 2627
Permanent Full-time Post (75/75)
Eligibility Criteria:
Persons applying for this must have, at the latest date for receipt of completed applications for the post:
Essential:
Be a Registered Nurse Intellectual Disability (RNID) on the live Register of Nurses kept by An Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais Na hÉireann (NMBI) and have a minimum of 1 year's post-registration full-time experience (or an aggregate of 1 year's full-time experience) in the RNID division of the register.
Have at least 1 year's experience working with adults who have Intellectual Disability and Behaviour Support Needs/Behaviours that Challenge.
Have successfully completed a post-registration programme of study, as certified by the education provider, which verifies that the applicant has achieved a QQI, NFQ Level 9 or higher award relevant to the specialist area of care (equivalent to 60 ECTS or above), in line with the requirements for specialist practice as set out by the National Council for Nursing and Midwifery 4th ed. (2008).
OR
Provide written evidence from the Higher Education Institute that they have achieved the number of ECTS credits equivalent to a Level 9 or higher standard, relevant to the specialist area of care (equivalent to 60 ECTS or above), in line with the requirements for specialist practice, i.e., Behaviour Support/Behaviours that Challenge in Adult ID as set out by the National Council for Nursing and Midwifery 4th ed. (2008). Nurses holding a level 8 qualification in the specialist area (equivalent to 60 ECTS or above) will have this qualification recognized up to September 2026.
Additional Criteria:
Demonstrate continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the specialist area.
Ability to practice safely and effectively within scope of practice.
Good character, requisite knowledge, and ability, including leadership, managerial, and administrative capacity.
Capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and in good health to render regular and efficient service.
Thorough understanding of the Positive Behaviour Support framework and related evidence-based approaches.
Ability to work as part of a team within the immediate work environment and with the wider multidisciplinary team.
Approachable, self-directed, efficient, and flexible working style.
Fluent in oral and written English with good presentation skills; IT proficiency is essential.
Ability to practice the core concepts of the CNS role safely and effectively, representing the RNID profession well.
Full Irish Driver License required for travel within Limerick city and county.
