This role holds direct responsibility for the Technical Services teams covering Avionics, Cabin, Systems, and Structures. It provides Engineering support for the A320 Family and A330 Fleets in both the UK and Ireland.
The EASA Part Camo approval is a fundamental part of the AOC. The Technical Services Department is tasked with maintaining ongoing compliance with Part M/Part Camo and the Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition (CAME). This department collaborates with and supports numerous internal departments and external third-party suppliers, such as 145 internal and external organizations, Flight Ops, Compliance, Transformation, Finance, and OEMs.
The primary specialist sections within the Technical Services department include:
* Maintenance Programs & Reliability
* Powerplant
* Structures
* Aircraft Systems
* Cabin programmes
* MEL
* Technical Library
Principal Accountabilities / Responsibilities
* Manage and develop the Systems, Cabin, Avionics, and Structures Teams through performance reviews.
* Ensure any changes originating from or within Engineering are properly risk-assessed, with control measures implemented as needed.
* Assess, uphold, and develop the competency of each team.
* Diligently implement the Airworthiness Directive process to ensure timely completion and release of all related documentation.
* Ensure continuous review of OEM data (e.g., Airbus SB, ISI) by Technical Services and apply risk-based decision-making for non-mandatory aircraft modifications, including cost-benefit analysis.
* Provide the latest maintenance data, including all relevant ICAs for the fleet from delivery and throughout its operational life.
* Ensure that all outputs from Technical Services, such as Engineering Orders and Technical Notices, are of the highest standard and formatted appropriately for use by various departments, in line with regulatory requirements and embracing digital processes.
* Update aircraft damage charts and repair files for the A320 Family and A330 fleets' structures in a timely manner.
* Provide support to Line Maintenance, MCC, and Technical Support teams for complex damage assessments and repairs.
* Maintain oversight of subcontracted organizations.
* Ensure the fleet complies with all relevant airworthiness and operational mandates from EASA/FAA and other regulatory bodies.
* Establish, monitor, and act upon Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs).
* Propose, develop, and lead initiatives as part of the Engineering Transformation agenda, promoting digitization in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
* Challenge and continuously update existing processes and procedures to reflect best practices, IOSA recommendations, and regulatory requirements.
* Collaborate with IAG OpCos to share and implement learning opportunities.
* Promote greater adoption and maximized use of AMOS in collaboration with the Technical Systems team.
* Support cross-functional projects within the M&E department.
* Provide support to the Fleet Technical Asset Management team during aircraft transitions.
* Effectively plan manpower to balance resources and workload within each team.
* Promote a safety culture, including hazard and self-reporting.
* Ensure timely closure of all findings from the Compliance system, the IAA, and actions from the Safety Committee.
* Be responsible for the timely delivery of all related projects.
* Report all significant issues to the Head of Technical Services.
* Prepare business cases for all related projects and modification program expenditures.
* Manage the interface between Engineering and Flight Operations, ensuring effective communication of aircraft changes that affect flight operations.
Qualifications, Competencies and Experience
Essential Qualifications/Experience
* A 3rd Level Engineering Degree with 10 years of relevant experience or an EASA Part 66 license with 20 years of relevant experience.
* An excellent understanding of aviation regulatory requirements.
* Analytical and Data literacy skills.
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).
* Strong leadership and communication capabilities.
* Working knowledge of AMOS.
* Knowledge of Airbus Technical Documentation.
* Experience in writing technical work instructions and technical reports.
* Experience in interpreting Manufacturer's Publications.
