Job Description
At Mott MacDonald, we believe in building a better future – one that is sustainable, inclusive, and driven by meaningful outcomes. Our dynamic and diverse team is united by a shared ambition: to improve society by delivering excellence, embracing digital innovation, and transforming lives through the work we do.
We are looking to recruit a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join our growing rail team in Ireland, supporting the growth of the rail market across Ireland and the delivery of significant rail improvement projects to smaller local community rail enhancement and renewal projects across Ireland and the UK. You will help shape and grow the local electrical engineering capability within our wider rail systems team, focusing on embedding technical excellence at the core of everything we do.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to specialise into one of our technical delivery capabilities:
* Traction Power & EMC – utilising a wide range of tools to develop high‑voltage systems and substation designs.
* Signalling & Operations – planning, developing, designing and implementing safety‑critical railway signalling systems.
* Electrical and Plant – designing low‑voltage electrical systems for critical railway infrastructure and station services, including lighting designs.
You will also support projects holistically, through stakeholder management and business development, supporting bidding activities and coordinating design inputs in Project Management or Design Management roles as you support us in growing our capability in Ireland. There will also be the opportunity to provide support for projects in other sectors across Ireland, supplementing our existing teams in Water and Energy among others.
As part of the Rail Division, you will be able to rotate into other technical disciplines to gain a broader systems understanding, typically through two six‑month placements, before returning to your core team to complete your graduate scheme. Other disciplines include Engineering Management, Overhead Line Electrification, Civil Engineering, Rolling Stock and more, offering a well‑rounded foundation in railway engineering.
We have opportunities in the following locations: Dublin and Cork.
