Overview
St. Michael's House is a community-based organisation committed to providing a quality person-centred service and high standards of living to people with an intellectual disability in the greater Dublin area. The organisation offers a comprehensive range of services and supports to people with disabilities and their families, in 170 locations in the greater Dublin Area, supporting 1,953 people and their families. It is funded by the Health Service Executive (HSE), TUSLA and the Department of Education and Skills.
Vacancies now exist for Social Care Worker roles on a full-time permanent basis in Day Services to support individualised services in North and South Dublin. Locations include Swords, Balbriggan, Ballymun, Edenmore, Baldoyle, Finglas, Templeogue, Glasnevin and Goatstown.
Responsibilities
* Provide personal support services for adults with an intellectual disability in day services, with a focus on person-centred care and promoting independence.
* Support individuals to develop and maintain connections to others and strengthen links to the local community.
* Promote educational, vocational, social and recreational supports both in centres and in the community.
* Work as part of a skilled and responsive staff team to deliver a high-quality Day Service.
* Support and promote each individual’s independence and personal development, with emphasis on participation and inclusion.
Essential Criteria / Qualifications
* Possess knowledge of the Keyworker Role and PCP process.
* A strong commitment to providing a quality, individualized service.
* Experience working with families, clinicians and building links in the community.
* Experience in the area of challenging behaviour.
* Awareness of issues facing adults with intellectual disability.
* Experience promoting educational, vocational, social and recreational supports for individuals.
* A full clean driver’s licence.
* CORU Registration (completed or evidence of submission).
* Knowledge of New Directions.
* Creative outlook with a passion for supporting people with disabilities to have variety in their lives and to pursue their choices.
Applicants must have one or more of the following qualifications:
* QQI Level 7 Bachelor of Arts in Applied Social Studies (Disability) - Open Training College;
* Level 7 award in Social Care/Studies delivered by an Institute of Technology (DIT or NUI);
* A qualification outside the State recognised by NARIC as equivalent to Irish Level 7.
* Third Level Qualification in Nursing.

Salary information: Successful candidates will be paid in line with the August 2025 HSE revised consolidated Social Care Worker pay scale. Points and exact figures depend on experience and the 39-hour week. If you have no prior public sector experience you will be placed on point 1 of the pay-scale.
