The Lead Systems Administrator is responsible for the organization's computer systems and servers, ensuring optimal performance and security. This role involves installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of complex hardware and software. Additionally, the Lead Systems Administrator develops processes and procedures for managing the server environment and enterprise infrastructure applications. The position includes mentoring, leading, and coaching junior team members, and handling complex tasks. Hollister operates in a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Infrastructure Management: Lead the smooth operation of the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring security of systems and applications.
- System Management: Serve as a lead technical expert in system administration for operating systems, including global or multi-office network infrastructures.
- Installation & Configuration: Install and configure complex software and hardware, including servers, devices, and firewalls.
- Performance Monitoring: Define monitoring parameters, set up monitoring for system performance, IT operations, and storage utilization, and generate alerts for potential disruptions.
- Upgrades & Maintenance: Plan and execute hardware or software upgrades to support system growth.
- User Management: Manage complex user accounts and assets, and update security permissions according to organizational policies.
- Technical Support: Provide lead support for escalated help desk requests and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Technical Leadership: Lead a team of systems administrators, coordinate with departments, and mentor team members.
- Documentation: Develop, document, communicate, and enforce network technology policies.
- Training: Define training content, train new users, and set up their accounts.
- CMDB Management: Set up and manage application, server, and business process data in the Configuration Management Database.
- Dashboard Management: Create and manage monitoring dashboards for services, servers, and infrastructure assets.
- Cloud Management: Manage and monitor cloud assets to ensure performance and security.
- Database Management: Oversee data assets, including databases, ensuring data integrity and availability.
- Job Scheduling Systems: Manage assets and maintain job scheduling systems for efficient task execution.
- Backup Systems: Lead backup process development, and monitor backup systems to ensure data recovery.
- Process Development: Develop processes for ongoing management of server/network environment and enterprise applications.
- Data Center Security: Assist with physical security and safety of data centers.
- Collaboration: Partner with other IT groups to deliver services.
- Process Improvements: Lead process improvements related to client/server/network environments.
- Coordination: Work with systems engineering, business applications, and database teams to ensure system availability, reliability, and scalability.
- Industry Knowledge: Stay current with industry trends and technologies.
- Metrics & Reporting: Establish and track performance metrics and KPIs.
- Service Improvement: Implement tools and processes for service level measurement and reporting.
- Communication: Maintain ongoing communication of processes to teams and stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement service improvements for department and organizational growth.
- Security Policies: Implement policies and technologies to ensure system security and integrity.
- Data Center Security Features: Assist with security features like HVAC control, environmental alarms, and access restrictions.
- Guidance: Provide guidance to junior team members.
- Consulting & Support: Offer business consulting and technical support globally.
- File System & Backup: Configure file systems and define backup/recovery procedures.
- Incident Management: Monitor and resolve network and system issues, escalate as needed.
- Documentation: Complete and maintain thorough documentation of systems and processes.
Essential Functions of the Role:
- Communicate with suppliers and associates via phone
- Read technical manuals and trade journals
- Use a personal computer with proficiency in Office software
- Travel as needed by plane or automobile
- Lift up to 70 lbs
Work Experience Requirements:
- 9-12 years of hands-on experience in system administration
- Strong troubleshooting skills, LAN/WAN knowledge, proficiency in scripting
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and team management skills
- Experience with global or multi-office networks
- Knowledge of various operating systems and IT services
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
Specialized Skills/Technical Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, and hybrid cloud environments
- Networking technologies including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, WINS
- Microsoft Exchange Server administration
- Database backup and recovery techniques
- VPN deployment and management with security best practices
- VMware administration
- SAN technology deployment and management
- Network switching, routing, firewalls, protocols
- Azure Cloud management and deployment
Language Skills:
- Effective reading, writing, and communication in English

- Base salary: €70,000 - €87,000, varies based on experience and skills.
- Eligible for Hollister XX Bonus Plan, if applicable.
