A leading technical commercial construction design and construct contractor has an exciting position for a motivated and proven Setting out Engineer where you will be based in Portugal for a project as well as projects in Ireland.
Overview
The Setting Out Engineer is responsible for the accurate setting out, measurement, and surveying of construction works on site. The role ensures that all works are set out in accordance with design drawings, specifications, and tolerances, supporting project teams to deliver high-quality and compliant construction projects safely, efficiently, and on programme.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out setting out, levelling, and surveying activities on site
Interpret and implement project drawings, specifications, and design information
Establish and maintain accurate control points and benchmarks for construction works
Check and verify dimensions and levels of constructed elements to ensure compliance
Record and maintain as-built information and survey data
Coordinate setting out requirements with engineers, site teams, and subcontractors
Provide technical support to site management for layout checks and quality control
Manage and maintain survey instruments and equipment to ensure calibration and reliability
Assist in the preparation of quality and inspection documentation, including ITPs and checklists
Ensure all works are carried out in line with health, safety, and environmental standards
Support the delivery of project milestones and contribute to achieving programme targets
Key Skills & Qualifications
Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline (HNC/HND/Degree)
Proven experience working as a Setting Out Engineer or Site Engineer in a construction environment
Proficient in the use of survey and setting out instruments (Total Station, GPS, Laser Level, etc.)
Able to be based in Portugal on site for a project
Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and tolerances
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Good organisational and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively
Ability to manage workload and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices
Must have the right to work in Ireland and hold a valid drivers licence
