Associate Director - Mechanical (Data Centres) Wallace Myers is recruiting an Associate Director - Mechanical to lead the delivery of large-scale, mission-critical data centre projects within a growing engineering function. This is a senior, hands-on role combining technical leadership, commercial ownership, and team development, suited to an experienced Mechanical Engineer who understands the performance, resilience, and commercial drivers behind data centre design. The Role Take full ownership of mechanical design strategy and delivery across multiple data centre projects, covering cooling systems, HVAC, ventilation, and utilities. Act as the senior technical authority, ensuring designs meet uptime, redundancy, energy efficiency, and operational resilience requirements. Lead multidisciplinary coordination with Electrical, CSA, BIM, and Project Controls teams to ensure fully integrated solutions. Manage project budgets, programmes, resource planning, and design risk from concept through construction support. Provide technical and commercial leadership in client meetings, design reviews, and value engineering workshops. Lead bid strategies, fee proposals, scope definition, and workload forecasting. Drive consistency, quality, and efficiency through standardisation, BIM, digital engineering, and design optimisation. Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing mechanical team, supporting growth in the data centre and mission-critical sector. Key Requirements Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering. Chartered Engineer (or working towards) with Engineers Ireland, CIBSE, or equivalent. 10+ years' experience delivering data centre or mission-critical mechanical systems. Strong technical background in data centre cooling architectures (air, liquid, hybrid), redundancy concepts (N, N+1, 2N), and energy efficiency. Proven experience leading mechanical packages on complex, fast-track projects. Strong working knowledge of CIBSE, ASHRAE, and international standards. Experience with Revit, BIM-led delivery, and digital workflows. Commercially astute, with experience managing fees, schedules, and client expectations.
