We are presently recruiting for HGV Mechanics for our clients in Killarney, County Kerry. This opportunity is open to both apprentice and senior-level mechanics. The company in question has over 30 vehicles in its fleet and require someone to ensure the smooth running of services and breakdowns kept to a minimum. As a HGV Mechanic, you will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform routine servicing, and ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations. This is a permanent, full-time position based in Killarney, County Kerry.
Responsibilities:
1. Diagnose and repair faults: Identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and conduct necessary repairs.
2. Routine maintenance: Perform regular servicing, including oil changes, brake adjustments, and inspections, to ensure vehicles meet safety and operational standards.
3. Engine overhauls: Conduct major engine repairs or overhauls when necessary, including component replacement and system reconditioning.
4. Electrical system repair: Troubleshoot and repair vehicle electrical systems, including lighting, wiring, and onboard electronics.
5. Brake and suspension systems: Maintain and repair braking systems, suspension components, and other critical safety features.
6. Compliance with regulations: Ensure all repairs and maintenance meet legal and manufacturer standards, including health and safety regulations.
7. Record-keeping: Maintain accurate service records and reports on all work performed.
8. Collaboration: Work closely with other mechanics, parts suppliers, and service managers to ensure efficient workflow.
Experience and Qualifications:
9. NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
10. Full Driving Licence – HGV a bonus
11. Experience in a similar role.
12. Flexibility, willing to carry out variety of tasks/ activities requested and is prepared to work additional hours as may be necessary from time to time.
