Department Overview
The School of Biotechnology leads education and research in Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, and related fields. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs and is active in basic, applied, and industry-related research, supported by core facilities and international funding.
Role Overview
The appointee will work closely with colleagues, contribute to teaching core subjects like Computational Biology, Genomics, Bioinformatics, and Biostatistics, and engage in research, supervision, and service activities.
Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Learning: Develop and deliver modules, assess students, innovate curricula, supervise labs, and engage in professional development.
2. Research & Scholarship: Conduct independent research, publish, seek collaborations, supervise students, and generate research income.
3. Service & Contribution: Participate in university planning, quality review, professional bodies, and administrative duties.
Qualifications & Experience
* Honours degree and Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Molecular Biology, or Bioinformatics.
* Teaching ability in relevant areas.
* Active research profile with publications and potential for research independence.
* Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Additional Requirements
Mandatory compliance training: Orientation, Health & Safety, Data Protection (GDPR), Cyber Security Awareness.
Salary & Application
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Closing date: Wednesday 4th June 2025.
Remote Work Policy
Up to 2 days remote work per week from November 2024, aligned with on-campus presence and university values.
