Overview
A well-established engineering and infrastructure services provider is seeking a skilled Plant Fitter / Mechanic to join its maintenance team in the Kildare region. This role involves the inspection, maintenance, and repair of a diverse fleet of heavy plant machinery and equipment used in infrastructure and rail-related operations.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of plant and machinery.
Diagnose faults efficiently using appropriate diagnostic tools and methods.
Repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on equipment such as:
Excavators
Dumpers
Rollers
Road-rail vehicles (RRVs)
Complete routine servicing to manufacturer and company standards.
Ensure all work is carried out safely and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Maintain accurate records of servicing, inspections, and repairs.
Support breakdown response and emergency repairs when required.
Conduct pre-use inspections and condition reports on equipment.
Work both independently and as part of a team to meet operational deadlines.
Candidate Requirements
Proven experience as a Plant Fitter, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or similar role.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
Experience working with construction, rail, or agricultural plant machinery is desirable.
Relevant mechanical qualification (e.g., FETAC/QQI Level 6, apprenticeship, or equivalent).
Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.
Full, clean driving licence (essential).
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Flexibility to work overtime or on-call when required.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience working on rail plant or road-rail vehicles (RRVs).
Familiarity with safety-critical environments or infrastructure projects.
Welding or fabrication skills would be an advantage.
Safe Pass, Manual Handling, or other site safety certifications.
