Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented HVAC Test & Balancing (TAB) Engineer to join our commissioning team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for testing, adjusting, and balancing HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance, energy efficiency, and compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform air and hydronic balancing on life science, commercial, healthcare, and industrial HVAC systems.
Conduct system performance assessments, including airflow, static pressure, pre-commissioning, commissioning studies, and water flow measurements.
Interpret mechanical drawings and specifications to verify system design and proper installation.
Prepare accurate and detailed TAB reports in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards (e.g., CIBSE, BSRIA, etc.).
Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and commissioning teams to identify and resolve HVAC issues.
Support commissioning activities and functional performance testing.
Maintain calibration of instruments and ensure tools are in good working order.
Ensure all work is performed in a safe, compliant, and professional manner.
Qualifications
Minimum 25 years of HVAC TAB experience.
Engineering qualification or certification by CIBSE preferred (or ability to obtain).
Proficient in reading HVAC drawings, schematics, and specifications.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including AHUs, VAVs, chillers, boilers, pumps, etc.
Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS/BMS) is a benefit.
Strong communication, client-facing, organizational, and reporting skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites.
Preferred Experience
Commissioning support and troubleshooting complex HVAC systems.
Working in mission-critical environments (cleanrooms, datacentres, labs, healthcare).
Proficiency with balancing instruments (e.g., Shortridge, TSI).
Experience with airtightness testing, cleanroom certification is a plus.
