The Role
The Facilities sub‑area in Business Services is responsible for obtaining and maintaining Uisce Éireann’s Head Quarters and Regional offices, including activities such as: security, property management, capital projects, building management and fleet management. Facilities will provide these services across Uisce Éireann ensuring a consistent and effective facilitiesservice is provided.
The Facilities Operations team oversee and manage the provision of all Facilities Management Services for the UÉ Premises nationally including Reception & Post Services, Spatial Planning, Cleaning, Waste, Energy, Catering, Stationary, Archiving, Employee Welfare and Building Maintenance. The team drive the delivery of all operational activities planned, corrective, reactive and emergencies associated with the assigned properties, taking responsibility for their safe completion on time, within scope and within budget and manage the set‑up and integration of new properties and assets from the Facility Capital Projects and Infrastructure Delivery teams into Facilities Operations.
Reporting to the Soft Services Technical Lead, the Facilities Soft Services Engineer will assist in the day‑to‑day delivery of soft Facilities Management services across UÉ commercial buildings and operational sites. The role provides operational support to ensure buildings run smoothly, services are delivered to a high standard, and issues are resolved promptly. Soft services include cleaning, catering, spatial planning / workspace management, reception / post services, waste management etc.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Support the provision of Soft Facilities Management (FM) services for Commercial Buildings and Operational sites nationally.
Support the Facilities Team (as required) on strategically important projects as part of UÉT (Uisce Éireann Transformation project) such as Offices, National Stores and Operations Centres, Laboratories etc. as part of the transformation of the water services industry in Ireland over the coming years.
Support the day‑to‑day facilities issues and act as an escalation point, taking ownership of problems seeing them through to resolution.
Development of papers, presentations, and reports as required.
Assist with mobilising the soft services for any new premises nationally.
Support the Facilities team with daily building operations and respond to soft services issues in a timely manner.
Support the Soft Services Technical Lead in the development and management of budgets.
Act as a point of contact for site‑based requests, escalating issues when required.
Assist with the mobilisation of services for new or refurbished buildings.
Support the coordination of spatial planning activities, including updated seating plans and desk booking administration.
Help track space usage and update records or systems as needed.
Support compliance with Health & Safety, environmental and workplace regulations.
Assist with internal checks, inspections and audits (e.g., cleaning standards, welfare facilities).
Support HSQE initiatives and reporting as required.
Liaise with cleaning, catering and other soft service suppliers on day‑to‑day matters.
Monitor service delivery and report issues to the Facilities Soft Services Lead.
Help ensure suppliers follow UÉ standards and contractual obligations.
Maintain accurate records, logs and reports for soft FM activities.
Assist in preparing basic reports, presentations, or data for management when needed.
Support tracking of budgets and invoices for soft FM services (cleaning, catering, reception, etc.).
Support the coordination of internal Uisce Éireann events (room setup, catering requests, logistics).
Assist in managing employee welfare supports (e.g., First Aid and Fire Warden lists).
Carry out general facilities tasks as required to ensure smooth operations.
Coordinate internal events with internal and external stakeholders.
Carry out cleaning and catering audits on service providers.
Flexibility to support occasional extended hours or travel between locations.
Perform other facilities‑related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Relevant third level qualification in Facilities Management / Engineering or equivalent.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in facilities management, property, or customer‑facing operational roles with strong experience in catering, cleaning, and soft services management.
Experience in managing a large number of contract personnel.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Good organisational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to prioritise tasks and work both independently and as part of a team.
Problem‑solving mindset and willingness to learn.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Experience using facilities management tools e.g. BMS, Maximo, CAFM or similar.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, coupled with the ability to generate innovative technical solutions as required.
Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organising and prioritising with attention to detail.
Ability to set own high standards of performance and delivering desired results.
Full clean Driver’s License.
