This is an exciting opportunity to take full responsibility for category management and purchasing across the island of Ireland, shaping an offer that continues to set the standard in the industry.
The Role
As Head of Category Management, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth, strengthening supplier relationships, and ensuring the business delivers value and innovation across both established and emerging product areas. Leading a high-performing team, you’ll combine strategic oversight with hands-on commercial management, ensuring customers North and South continue to benefit from an exceptional product range and service.
Responsibilities
* Growing established hardware and showroom categories, while expanding into new areas such as Garden, Lifestyle, and Electrical.
* Driving the evolution of central distribution to ensure nationwide product availability.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders across multiple business units.
* Leading the development of promotional strategies to drive branch footfall and customer engagement.
* Playing a central role in digital development, ensuring the online trade platform mirrors the quality of the in-branch experience.
* Coaching and developing your team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
* Regular travel across Ireland and Northern Ireland to engage with branches and stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
* 10+ years’ experience in buying, category management, and delivering profitability.
* A degree in business, supply chain management, or related discipline.
* Proven success in leading teams within a fast-paced retail or distribution environment.
* Strong negotiation skills with a track record of achieving favourable supplier terms.
* Excellent relationship-building ability with both suppliers and customers.
* Analytical and commercially astute, with creative problem-solving skills.
* Knowledge of procurement regulations, compliance, and ethical standards.
* A collaborative leader with resilience, drive, and a positive, can-do approach.
