A Day in the LifeCollaborates with cross‑functional teams on the design of software for class I, II and III medical devices per software standards, e.g. IEC62304.Provides hands‑on leadership, coaching, and mentoring on software engineering and software reliability best practices to quality engineers.Evaluates designs for potential failure modes, assesses potential hazards and harms, prioritizes safety risks, identifies appropriate risk controls, and compiles evidence to demonstrate benefits outweigh product risks.Designs and executes reliability tests to demonstrate software reliability.Conducts and/or participates in technical reviews of requirements, designs, and other engineering artifacts, ensuring timely delivery to meet program commitments.Participates in process improvement initiatives for the software quality team, recognizing areas for improvement and developing and documenting process improvements.Develops reusable patterns and encourages innovation that will increase team velocity.Works collaboratively across functions and with internal and external partners to deliver high quality products to the marketplace.Key Skills & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.Minimum of 4 years of relevant technical experience, or advanced degree with 2 years of technical experience.Passion for creating high quality software and documentation.Strong leadership, mentoring and problem‑solving skills.Proficiency working in a team environment.Strong oral and written communication skills.Experience in software design for regulated industries.Experience with Agile methodologies and Test‑Driven Development.Proficiency in two or more of the following technologies: C++, Java, JavaScript, HTML, C#, .NET, Python, Angular, Xamarin.Physical Job RequirementsThe above statements describe the general nature and level of work performed but are not exhaustive of all required responsibilities and skills.Benefits & CompensationMedtronic offers a competitive salary and flexible benefits package.
