Job Description:
On behalf of our client, a leading healthcare company, we are currently recruiting for a Renal Staff Nurse for Galway. This is a maternity contract role, 1 year duration. This is a 37.5 hour week, with shifts over Mon-Sat, rotated.
Will work as part of a Dialysis Team and will take personal responsibility and accountability for ensuring that policies and procedures are known and followed, and will ensure duties are carried out in accordance with the advisory guidelines and practices set out in Irish National Nursing Council (INNC).
Key roles and responsibilities include:
* Organise and participate in delivering high standards of evidence-based nursing care.
* Carry out planned, direct patient care to a high standard without direct supervision, in accordance with nursing procedures and policies.
* Report significant changes in a patient’s condition to the multidisciplinary team.
* Contribute to health promotion by providing education, support, and advice; refer patients to appropriate professionals or agencies as needed.
* Escort patients requiring assistance to their transport.
* Ensure patients are treated with courtesy, respecting individual needs and maintaining confidentiality.
* Provide a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, relatives, visitors, and colleagues.
* Ensure readiness of special equipment and nursing supplies in conjunction with senior ward nurses.
* Report complaints, incidents, or accidents to the nurse in charge/line manager and complete relevant documentation.
* Understand manual handling regulations, especially regarding patient moving and handling, and assess patients’ manual handling needs.
Skills & Experience Requirements:
* Registered Nurse with current INMB PIN.
* Training in additional clinical skills such as IV drug administration, cannulation, and venipuncture.
* Ability to critically appraise and utilize research to improve patient care.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
* Ability to build rapport with patients, relatives, visitors, and colleagues, communicate clearly, listen actively, and empathize.
* Recognize and manage potentially difficult situations involving patients, carers, or team members.
* Strong organizational skills, initiative, time management, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Proficiency in generating verbal and written reports on patient conditions.
* Teaching and presentation skills to mentor students and promote learning.
