As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our Finance Team at Head Office. This role offers the opportunity to work within a professional, fast-paced environment supporting the financial operations of a leading Irish brand.
Role Overview
The Accounts Assistant will support the Finance Team in managing day-to-day accounting and payroll functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting across all financial activities. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, key responsibilities include payroll processing, bank and ledger reconciliations, VAT and Revenue returns, and assisting with month-end close and management accounts preparation.
This is a specific purpose maternity cover contract (10 months) offering valuable exposure and the opportunity for professional development within an established and reputable Irish brand.
Key duties and responsibilities:
* Timely processing of fortnightly payroll, ensuring accuracy of payments and deductions in accordance with the agreed guidelines and relevant legislation.
* Manage all Revenue activities including RPNs, payroll submissions and ERR submissions.
* Reconcile data using in house payroll systems and MS Excel.
* Prepare bank files for payment and produce accurate payroll reports for Finance teams.
* Carry out general ledger reconciliations and review general ledger transactions to ensure accurate cost allocation.
* Perform regular bank reconciliations and ensure discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.
* Prepare month-end journals and assist with month-end close activities.
* Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and year-end statutory accounts.
* Prepare and file VAT, PAYE, RCT, Intrastat and VIES returns and dealing with Revenue Queries.
* Maintain the Fixed Asset Register.
* Assist with preparing audit files for the year-end audit.
* Work closely with the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams to ensure accurate billing and payment processes.
* Liaise with other departments as necessary to ensure accuracy of relevant information
* Provide analysis and support to production to help drive improved performance and efficiency.
Person Specification & Qualifications:
* IPASS qualification or equivalent is desirable.
* Minimum of 2 years payroll and accounting experience
* Accounts Technician Qualified, Newly Qualified or Part Qualified Accountant e.g. CIMA /ACCA
* Experience in assisting with the preparation of management accounts.
* Strong attention to detail with strong financial and analytical skills.
* Ability to plan and prioritise workloads to agreed deadlines.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Proficiency in BrightPay, BrightBooks, Microsoft Excel, experience in ERPs systems an advantage.

Location - Based at our head office in Ballyboughan Business Park, Roscommon, F42 RC85. This is primarily an office-based role, with flexibility to work from home.
Duration - This is a specific purpose contract covering maternity leave, expected duration 10 months.
Salary - In line with experience and qualifications.
