Job Responsibilities
Conduct investigations (under legal privilege when necessary) into sensitive/complex employment situations; provide guidance to business unit management and HR regarding employee counselling, discipline, and involuntary terminations.
Partner with HR to support and liaise with employee representative bodies across Continental Europe.
Consult with management, HR, and Legal regarding findings; serve as resource/expert on employee relations including interpreting company and business unit policies, discipline for violations, involuntary terminations, and collective redundancy exercises.
Facilitate improvements in policies, practices, procedures based on learnings from investigations.
Participate in special projects to review and analyze Northern policies, research industry best practices, procedures and programs; facilitate change.
Identify specific business unit employee relations needs; work with appropriate HR or business unit representatives to plan, develop, and implement solutions.
Act as liaison for ER to business to facilitate smooth delivery of employee relations initiatives.
Mentor more junior Employee Relations Consultants; facilitate training on Employee Relations topics.
Qualifications
10+ years experience in Employee Relations, with deep knowledge of investigations.
Experience supporting continental Europe locations; knowledge of unions or staff delegations.
Strong knowledge of corporate HR policies, employment laws and regulations; proven experience working closely with Legal Counsel.
Ability to identify, analyze, evaluate, and resolve ER issues and provide consultation to management.
Listening, negotiation, and analytical skills; ability to counsel and coach managers and employees.
Develop knowledge of business unit strategies, processes, and practices to identify ER and HR needs.
Fluency in a European language desirable.
