Maynooth University is committed to a strategy where excellent research, scholarship, and outstanding education are equally valued.
We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher for the project "AquaUP - Aquafeed Upgraded: Enhancing Immune Function with Seaweed-modified Functional Compounds", funded by the Marine Institute, Ireland, and the EU under the Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership.
The position is for an anticipated 17-month period, supporting the Primary Investigator and co-applicants in conducting Techno-economic assessment (TEA) to evaluate the economic viability and bottlenecks of a multiproduct biorefinery approach for producing seaweed bioactive compounds at a commercial scale.
The focus will be on Work Package 6, analyzing the economic feasibility of the processes using TEA, including sensitivity and risk analyses to identify scenarios affecting feasibility and to compare the proposed process with current solutions economically.
The candidate will join a multi-country, multi-university consortium, co-lead the development of deliverables, and present findings at international conferences. This role will strengthen the Eco-LOGIC research group, which explores the Food-Environment-Health nexus from a social perspective to promote a healthy and sustainable society.
Appointments will adhere to public sector pay provisions.
