About the Role:
The Distribution Manager is responsible for overseeing storage and delivery of goods, ensuring they reach customers and outlets efficiently, cost-effectively, and on time.
This role manages warehouse operations, transport logistics, and team performance to support business supply chain goals.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage day-to-day distribution operations, including warehousing, transport, and inventory.
* Plan and coordinate delivery schedules to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
* Lead, coach, and develop distribution teams.
* Monitor key performance indicators such as delivery accuracy, accidents, and customer satisfaction.
* Ensure compliance with health & safety, environmental, and legal regulations.
* Liaise with internal departments (sales, procurement, production) and external partners (carriers, third-party logistics providers).
* Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
* Manage budgets and oversee stock control systems.
* Prepare and present operational reports to senior leadership.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in logistics, transport, or distribution management roles.
* Strong understanding of supply chain and warehouse operations.
* Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
* Ability to analyse data, track key performance indicators, and make informed decisions.
* Experience in leading and managing teams.
* Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
* Familiarity with transportation regulations and safety standards.
* Qualifications: Professional certifications (e.g. CILT, APICS, ILM) are desirable.
