Reporting to the Business Insights Manager and working closely with the Data Science Lead and GIS Manager on the team, we are seeking a passionate and experienced analytics lead to join our Business Insights team.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading a small team who specialise in enabling business colleagues to create data driven business insights and to access their data.
You will partner closely with stakeholders across the business to identify key challenges and opportunities, translate them into actionable insights, and communicate findings effectively.
This is a hands-on leadership role that requires deep technical skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to build and motivate a high-performing analytics team.
We operate a Hub & Spoke operating model providing essential support to colleagues in business areas (Analysts and Business Users).
This role will be pivotal in the development and leadership of the team whilst maintaining solid relationships with other business unit analysts.
Collaborating with our wider D&A teams, youll enable the analysts to provide analytics support to the business through best practice business analysis, data extraction, data cleansing/wrangling and powerful visualisations delivering deep Business Insights which will support decision-making at all levels of management.
The ideal candidate will have a background in business analysis together with data analytics and a demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team of data analysts.
This is an evolving role as An Post is continuing to develop its Data & Analytics capabilities and will require a flexible attitude with the motivation and willingness to contribute positively as we develop.
Key Responsibilities The primary accountabilities associated with this role include but are not limited to the following: Continuous engagement with business areas ensuring a full understanding of current/emerging needs Lead and mentor a team of data analysts, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture through daily stand-up meetings and other scheduled/ad hoc meetings where required.
Support the wider analytics community within An Post via initiatives like Analyst Forums.
Provide mentorship and support in the delivery of data analysis projects, ensuring quality and timeliness.
Collaborate with the D&A Solutions and Data Privacy Office teams and monitor data governance policies & procedures to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security.
Your involvement in data literacy programmes throughout An Post as we evolve on our Digicorp journey will play a vital role in underpinning our Data Governance procedures.
Enable the design and development of analyses/reports/dashboards that effectively communicate key metrics and trends to stakeholders through best business analysis practice.
Maintain positive relationships across the organisation in order to keep all areas of the business informed and satisfied that there is a good process in place to manage requests and provide timely updates.
Identify and implement opportunities for process optimisation and automation within the data analytics workflow.
Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to improve data analytics capabilities.
Encourage, support and measure personal development both for your own role and within the team.
Demonstrate An Post Values and behaviours in your day-to-day work and address behaviour that supports/conflicts with them.
Qualifications You will hold an honours degree in Business /Data Analytics or similar discipline with at least 4 years experience leading a team (preferably of data analysts).
You will possess the skills to lead and mentor a team of highly driven data analysts towards achieving our goals through structured project and programme management methodologies.
Experience preparing project plans, presentations and report writing are a must.
Strong proficiency in data analysis tools & platforms such as MS Fabric, programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, etc.
along with experience in building and maintaining data visualisations using visualisation tools like Power BI, OAC/OAS or similar are important.
Other valued skills include excellent understanding of data governance, data quality, and best practices in data management.
Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Familiarity with machine learning & emerging AI concepts and applications is a plus.
