Job description:Operations InternThe Operations Intern will support the Operations team and play an active role in delivering services to a wide range of stakeholders across the business. Through rotations in Operational Excellence, Project Management, Procurement, EHS, and Training, the intern will gain broad exposure while supporting the site's mission to accelerate and transform the discovery and manufacture of biologics.Organization Description:WuXi Biologics is a premier provider of biologics services (from discovery to commercialization) with global customers in the biopharmaceutical and healthcare industries. Our mission is to accelerate and transform discovery, development, and manufacturing in the rapidly growing field of biologics to benefit patients worldwide.Your Responsibilities:Be mentored by highly skilled & experienced employees while conducting assigned tasks.Experience a contract manufacturing environment, receiving exposure to multiple leading pharmaceutical client companies supporting the manufacture of biological drug substance (DS).As required participate & contribute to various projects and activities whilst applying the knowledge and skills acquired from your studies.With guidance, prepare and maintaining of Department Procedures in collaboration with colleagues as well and coordinating review/approval from other departments.Comply with policies and procedures and apply good documentation practices to ensure highest Quality & Compliance standards.Model PROUD culture in all that you do.Ensure work areas is maintained to a high standard and all cGMP standards are complied with at all times.All assigned Training to be completed in a timely manner and maintained up to date.Adhere fully to all safety policies, procedures and regulations.Capable of working with individuals and within a team.The Operations Department supports the wider business in all OPEX, PM, Procurement, Training and EHS activities. Therefore, the internship offers a unique opportunity to work closely with these functions.As part of the EHS Team., you will be afforded a unique opportunity toProvide support to other departments to ensure EHS compliance as required.Update of EHS compliance database (FLEX)Participate in GEMBA walks as required.Assist with the EHS Training program as required – this may involve coordination with the Training TeamProvide necessary administrative support to EHS colleagues.As part of the Training TeamProvide Training Coordination support to other departments, performing LMS data entry, scheduling of training and fielding training queries.Perform Training Specialist duties, conducting Training Needs Analysis (TNA), meet with business training Point of Contact (POC), review curricula requirements, support instructional design, support Train the Trainer activities.As part of the Procurement Team.Work with a diverse team of buyers with years of experience.You will learn about the governance and ethics applied when spending the company budget, laws that apply and govern contracts with vendors.Learn about the different categories of spend that support the business for direct materials, indirect services, and capital investment.Work with Quality department to ensure what we buy complies with cGMP requirements.Participate in competitive tenders and make decisions on how and from what vendors we make our purchases.Support all company departments in selecting vendors, materials and executing purchase orders and contracts.As part of OPEX TeamSeek opportunities for Continuous Improvement through the use of Lean/Six Sigma tools as part of daily operations (Standard Work, TPM, 5S, Method 1, 2 etc.).Complete Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt training and delivery of a small improvement project.Support in the scheduling of workshops associated with the OpEx Training program on site.Work with Training team to ensure all relevant documentation associated with OpEx training is completed and logged into LMS.Support with the development of training certificates associated with the OpEx Training program.Participate in Kaizen business improvement workshops, provide support in terms ofdocumentation of workshop outputs.Support the governance of the OpEx database & dashboard to ensure data is accurate and up to date.As part of the PM TeamAssist with logistics on days of client visits, ensuring rooms are set up, IT systems are ready, relevant forms completed, PPE ordered, liaising with catering staffMaintaining trackers to support Client Project ManagersSetting up of email distribution lists, organising filing systems.Your Profile:The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:QualificationsPursuing a third level undergraduate or post graduate qualification in a relevant Science or Engineering discipline. For example, but not limited to: Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Science, Plant EngineeringKnowledge/ExperienceNo previous experience required, demonstrated ability to work in teams through university/college activities.Knowledge and understanding of biopharmaceutical processes.Technical CompetenciesAbility to meet timelines and complete tasks as per the prescribed requirements.Good computer skills to support development and advancement.Minimum of 2.1 Grade in relevant degree courseBehavioural CompetenciesExcellent communication and problem-solving skills.Have a passion to grow and develop your career.Flexible attitude and positive mind set.Desire to be part of a successful team and innovative environmentAs we extend our global reach, we need colleagues interested in change, in challenge, and in building a new future together.
