Commissioning Lead in Ireland or Europe
Key Responsibilities
Commissioning Leadership & Strategy
Lead and manage the end-to-end MEP commissioning strategy, from early design review through to IST, client acceptance, and final handover.
Develop, manage, and maintain the integrated commissioning programme, aligning Mechanical and Electrical milestones with overall project delivery.
Provide strategic oversight of commissioning risks, interfaces, and dependencies, proactively mitigating programme or technical impacts.
Mechanical & Electrical Commissioning Oversight
Lead, coordinate, and supervise all Mechanical and Electrical commissioning activities, including vendor-led works for CFCI and OFCI packages.
Oversee commissioning of critical systems including:
LV/MV/HV electrical systems, switchgear, UPS, generators, and protection systems
Mechanical systems including HVAC, chilled water, pumps, controls, fire protection, fuel oil, and process water systems
Ensure commissioning activities are executed in line with approved procedures, design intent, and contract requirements.
Act as primary commissioning interface with vendors, subcontractors, and client representatives.
Plan, manage, and attend FATs, SATs, FWTs, and IST activities as required.
Chair and lead daily, weekly, and milestone commissioning meetings, ensuring clear communication, accountability, and action closure.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Ensure all commissioning works are carried out in strict accordance with EHS, QA/QC, and AP requirements.
Coordinate closely with Project QA/QC and AP teams to achieve common safety, quality, and handover objectives.
Ensure safe systems of work are implemented during all commissioning and energisation activities.
Documentation, Reporting & Handover
Oversee the preparation, review, approval, and close-out of all Mechanical and Electrical commissioning documentation, including:
Test Scripts and Method Statements
Compliance Statements and commissioning records
Commissioning dossiers and handover packages
Ensure all commissioning documentation is complete, accurate, and approved to achieve system and area sign-off.
Prepare and issue weekly commissioning progress reports, highlighting risks, constraints, and mitigation measures to senior project management.
Specific Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or equivalent trade qualification with significant commissioning leadership experience.
10 years' experience in commissioning roles within construction environments, with extensive MEP commissioning experience on large-scale projects.
Proven experience leading commissioning on data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, or mission-critical facilities.
Strong working knowledge of:
LV, MV, and HV electrical systems and testing & verification
Mechanical systems commissioning and controls integration
Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and phased energisation strategies
Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage multiple vendors, and coordinate complex interfaces.
Strong programme management, reporting, and stakeholder communication skills.
Calm, authoritative leader capable of operating under pressure in live, high-risk environments.
