This Work Placement Experience Programme provides participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Eligibility will be verified by the Department during the application process.


Job Description


This placement will provide the successful participant with an opportunity to work within a team to ensure guest satisfaction. The eligible participant will receive full training in all aspects of the placement. There will be a mentor to guide and coach the participant, and over the 6 months the participant will be:

* Trained on providing telephone assistance to customers in a friendly, courteous manner.
* Mentored on informing guests of all the hotel facilities and the need to pre‑book dining in advance.
* Mentored on cash handling, sales and recording of gift vouchers.
* Trained on filing reservations in a systematic order for easy referral.
* Training on the hotel reservation system Rezlynx.
* Training on communication skills and teamwork.
* Mentored in identifying all potential and real health and safety hazards and reporting them appropriately immediately.


Role Description


This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector‑recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module, which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Protective module, and will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP.

Formal Training: WPEP QQI Work Experience Module, Health & Safety Training, Microsoft Packages, Rezlynx reservation package, Customer Service.

Informal Training: Customer Service, Record Keeping, Hospitality Skills, Teamwork, Communication Skills.
