Cloud Operations Engineer
MongoDB Atlas is the premier multi-cloud database-as-a-service.
As a Cloud Operations Engineer you will ensure the success of Atlas customers worldwide, working as an early member of a 24/7/365 global cloud operations team.
You will support customers from startups to multinational companies, performing monitoring, troubleshooting, server administration and incident response.
Job location: Dublin office – Monday to Friday in-office model.
Due to the 24/7 nature of support, you may be asked to volunteer coverage outside normal work days or hours for regional off-sites or holidays.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and collaborate with a global Cloud Operations team to meet uptime guarantees.
Help scale the team with new processes and tools.
Scope, design, and deploy systems that reduce Mean Time to Resolve incidents.
Monitor and detect emerging customer-facing incidents; proactively resolve.
Automate routine monitoring and troubleshooting tasks.
Diagnose live incidents, distinguish platform issues from usage issues, and drive resolution.
Perform root-cause analysis after incidents, identify breakdowns, and recommend changes.
Document corner-case scenarios, troubleshooting workflows, and SOPs.
Collaborate with product, cloud engineering, and support to improve management applications.
Inform executive leadership and escalation for major outages.
Participate in a weekly on-call rotation handling short-term incidents.
Requirements
At least 2 years experience as an on-call DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Operations engineer.
Expertise in Linux system administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Experience in monitoring, performance data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Knowledge of database operations and concepts.
Expertise with networking technologies such as DNS, TCP/IP, etc.
Familiarity with Amazon Web Services and other cloud platforms (GCP, Azure).
Knowledge of web and internet technologies.
Ability to write small programs or scripts for system problems.
CS/CE degree or equivalent experience.
Proficiency in at least one programming language: Java, Go, or JavaScript.
Interest in learning new technologies.
