Job OverviewWe are seeking enthusiastic Engineering Managers to join our expanding Rail International team to work on Major Rail projects in Ireland. As an Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the technical delivery and assurance of complex rail and metro infrastructure systems across Ireland. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will oversee and coordinate design, procurement, installation and testing activities, ensuring contractor outputs are compliant, integrated and aligned with client and regulatory requirements. You will act as a key technical interface between clients, contractors and internal engineering teams, supporting the successful delivery of systems from design through to testing and entry into operation.ResponsibilitiesSupport the technical assurance and delivery of rail and metro systems, from design through to construction and commissioningAct as a technical focal point for design, implementation and delivery of assigned systems or subsystemsReview contractor submissions, including design documentation, system architecture, plans and technical reports, ensuring compliance with requirementsOversee contractor activities across design, procurement, installation and testing phasesCoordinate technical interfaces and design integration, managing RFIs, design changes and technical clarifications between stakeholdersFacilitate the design assurance process, ensuring alignment with safety, operability and maintainability requirementsWork closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent and integrated system design deliveryMonitor project progress, proactively identifying risks, issues and opportunities to maintain programme momentumSupport and contribute to design reviews, workshops and governance processesProduce and review technical reports, performance metrics and progress updates for senior stakeholdersEnsure adherence to quality, assurance and engineering governance processes across all project phasesContribute to maintaining a strong culture of health, safety and qualityExperienceExtensive experience within rail, metro or light rail infrastructure projectsProven experience supporting or delivering design assurance and technical delivery on complex multidisciplinary projectsExperience working across design, installation and testing phases of infrastructure programmesExperience interfacing with contractors, clients and multidisciplinary engineering teamsExperience in site activities, inspections or asset condition reportingStrong experience in technical reporting, documentation review and project coordinationSkills & CompetenciesStrong knowledge of engineering standards and specifications (e.g. IS, BS, EN and relevant international standards)Understanding of civil, structural, systems and integration aspects of rail infrastructureAbility to review and interpret technical drawings and design documentation, including CAD outputsStrong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teamsExperience managing design deliverables, interfaces and coordination activitiesStrong understanding of technical assurance and governance processesProven ability to identify, assess and mitigate engineering risksStrong analytical organisational and problem-solving skillsCollaborative approach with the ability to support high-performing multidisciplinary teamsProficiency in engineering tools (e.g. AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS or equivalent)QualificationsDegree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering disciplineChartered Engineer (or working towards / equivalent professional accreditation)Equal Opportunity StatementHere at WSP we positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, pregnancy or maternity/paternity.
