Shipping Coordinator Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in ensuring the seamless movement of customer orders and 3PL shipments. As a Shipping Coordinator, you will be responsible for booking shipments in advance with the correct forwarding agents, packing items to prevent damage during transit, and collaborating with Customer Service and Logistics teams to resolve any issues that may arise.
Key Responsibilities:
* Shipments Booking: Ensure timely and accurate booking of shipments with the right forwarding agents to meet customer expectations.
* Packing and Preparation: Pack items securely to prevent damage during transit, using the correct pallet types for relevant destinations and adhering to additional packing requirements such as banding and strapping.
* Collaboration and Communication: Liaise closely with Customer Service and Logistics teams to address any issues that may emerge, ensuring smooth and efficient order fulfillment.
* Documentation and Administration: Submit shipment details and paperwork to the relevant logistics agent in a timely fashion, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
* Loading and Security: Oversee the loading of shipments onto trailers/containers in a secure and safe manner, adhering to company protocols.
Performance Metrics and Continuous Improvement:
* Achieve high levels of on-time-in-full (OTIF) performance (>98%) to meet customer satisfaction targets.
* Develop and implement continuous improvement processes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality.
* Participate in internal and external audits to ensure adherence to safety, security, and regulatory standards.
* Maintain strict adherence to EHS systems, prioritizing employee safety and well-being.
* Contribute to the development of continuous improvements for ERP processes and documentation to streamline operations and enhance collaboration.
