Job Title: Environmental Health & Safety Specialist
Reports to: EHS Manager
Location: Atlantic Aviation Group, Shannon Airport, Shannon, Co Clare

Essential Job Function
Take responsibility for review, interpretation, communication and implementation of all applicable safety legislation.
Implement and perform internal audit programme and perform regular spot‑check assessments in accordance with organisational safety policies and procedures to ensure AAG remains a safe, secure place to work.
Monitor safety performance and provide updates and recommendations to the EHS Quality Manager.
Generate periodic H&S performance statistics, identify trends and take appropriate actions to ensure safety standards and compliance are maintained and communicated.
Coordinate risk assessment programme and appropriate follow‑up actions.
Support occupational health monitoring programmes – assess trends and propose recommendations.
Identify training needs and programmes; develop and deliver training to employees, contractors and customers to maintain required competency in safety awareness.
Lead incident reporting and investigation, ensuring root‑cause analysis and propose or confirm corrective/preventative actions are implemented.
Generate management reports internally, for the AAG Group and external agencies as appropriate.
Support evaluation of new activities/equipment regarding H&S legislation implementation.
Ensure continuous development and implementation of the emergency response plan.
Maintain training, statistical data and records as appropriate.
Coordinate safety committee and first‑aid activity programmes.
Liaise with other AAG Group EHS colleagues on relevant issues and developments.
Internal liaisons with HR, OH nurse/doctor, Operations.
External liaisons with Health & Safety Authority, Personal Injury Assessment Board, insurance companies, etc.
Support the EHS Quality Manager with development of a safety culture through regular communication media, safety topics and awareness campaigns.
Assist EHS specialist team and other members of the quality team in carrying out their duties.
Undertake projects and assignments as allocated by the EHS Quality Manager.
Candidate Requirements
Hold a degree in Occupational Health and Safety.
Must have experience in safety management system implementation, preferably OHSAS 18001.
Understand and be able to interpret safety legislation and compliance standard requirements.
Have a minimum of 6 years relevant experience in a dynamic industrial environment and a successful record as an H&S professional.
Be interested and willing to learn about all aspects of health, safety and environment.
Possess excellent communication skills; able to challenge and positively influence a busy operational environment.
Have the ability to interact across departments and engage senior management to improve health and safety performance.
Typical Working Conditions
Must satisfy and maintain required medical standard.
Work performed at the AAG Hangar in Shannon.
PPE is provided by AAG and its use is mandatory.
Must satisfy and maintain airport security requirements.
