Role: Automation Engineer
Location: Head Office, Loughrea Co. Galway, covering projects throughout Ireland

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Work as part of a team to deliver multiple projects, fostering a "one team" culture.
2. Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies, and procedures on-site.
3. Familiarity with HSQE management systems and statutory requirements.
4. Design PLC architecture, networks, and communication interfaces using standard hardware and software.
5. Create functional and design specifications from design briefs and control philosophies.
6. Build and test PLC code to high standards based on specifications.
7. Develop HMI platforms for automated systems control.
8. Design and modify SCADA applications for plants and integrate new controls.
9. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams during project execution.
10. Provide technical guidance during system design, implementation, and testing.
11. Present solutions to control system issues.
12. Develop documentation, perform FAT and SAT for project sign-off.
13. Plan and execute engineering tasks to meet time, cost, and quality targets.
14. Develop and apply engineering standards within the automation team.
15. Coordinate with key suppliers to optimize technology and components.
16. Perform fault finding on automated systems.
17. Prioritize tasks across projects within tight timelines.
18. Coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, site staff, and other stakeholders.
19. Stay updated with latest standards and technologies through CPD.
20. Show enthusiasm for learning and career growth, mentoring junior staff.
21. Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in water/wastewater industry.
* Degree in Automation Engineering, Control & Instrumentation or related field.
* Interest in developing within an industry-leading organization.
* Teamwork and input in project delivery.
* Proficiency in programming platforms: Rockwell, Schneider, Mitsubishi, or Omron.
* Experience with communication protocols: Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus, Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, DeviceNet.
* Experience with SCADA systems such as Ignition, AVEVA, Iconics, or Vijeo Citect.
* Experience in commissioning VSDs and instruments, on-site commissioning.
* Knowledge of relevant codes and regulations.
* Strong analytical, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
* Excellent problem-solving skills.
* Self-initiative and adaptability during project execution.
* Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
* Motivated with strong communication skills.
* Full driving license.
