The sector is engaging with challenges with respect to the changing sociolinguistic context of the Gaeltacht, changing demographics nationally, the supply and retention of teachers, and the provision of opportunities to develop educators’ practice as specialists in their field. These issues are a growing focus of research, teaching and practice in Trinity’s School of Education.Role overviewThe successful candidate will be a specialist in CEFR-aligned Irish language teaching, learning and assessment and/or in immersion and Gaeltacht education and Irish language pedagogy. They will be fully conversant with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and European and national policy in relation to the Irish language.The successful candidate will teach and supervise on the Irish language education programmes in the School, to include the supervision of postgraduate student research. The post-holder will undertake research, knowledge generation and dissemination in the field of Irish language education.Contract and statusPost status: Specific Purpose Contract. The purpose of this role is to support the delivery of the M.Oid. programme, which is funded by the Department of Education. Employment is not offered on an indefinite basis, as this post is linked to the specific purpose of the programme. Once the delivery of the M.Oid. programme concludes, the role will no longer be required.HoursHours of work for academic staff are those as prescribed under Public Service Agreements.
