Industry: Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Construction

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support and oversee contractors’ safety and compliance activities.

This role requires a proactive, hands-on safety professional with experience managing Permit to Work systems, reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), and driving a strong safety culture across multi-contractor sites in a high-spec, regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities:

* Monitor and enforce health & safety compliance across all contractor activities on site, with a strong focus on Work at Height, confined space, hot works, and lifting operations.
* Review and approve contractor RAMS, ensuring they are specific, suitable, and sufficient for planned tasks.
* Manage and oversee the Permit to Work (PTW) system, ensuring permits are issued, closed, and audited in accordance with site procedures.
* Conduct regular site inspections and audits, reporting hazards, non-compliance, and driving timely corrective actions.
* Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and participate in site inductions to promote awareness and safe practices.
* Collaborate with Project Managers, Construction Supervisors, and Contractor HSE leads to ensure consistent safety standards are maintained.
* Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the implementation of preventative actions.
* Maintain documentation and records to meet both regulatory and GMP compliance within a pharmaceutical environment.
* Participate in and contribute to site safety meetings, risk reviews, and HSE reporting.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

* NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (or equivalent essential); Diploma preferred.
* Minimum 5 years’ HSE experience in construction, ideally within pharmaceutical, biotech, or similarly regulated sectors.
* Proven experience managing Work at Height, contractor safety, RAMS reviews, and Permit to Work systems.
* Working knowledge of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, the Construction Regulations 2013, and other relevant Irish health and safety legislation.
* Familiarity with GMP environments and cleanroom protocols is advantageous.

Key Competencies:

* Attention to detail and ability to interpret complex documentation (e.g., RAMS, permits).
* Ability to engage and influence contractors and stakeholders at all levels.
* Proactive, visible presence on site with a “safety-first” mindset.
* Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
