The Accountant will oversee financial management for construction and development projects, ensuring accurate cost tracking, compliance with Revenue Commissioners, Industry Regulations, and timely reporting. This role requires expertise in project-based accounting, contract administration, and strong collaboration with site managers, professional service providers, and senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain accurate financial records for multiple construction and development projects
* Prepare quarterly management accounts and project cost reports
* Monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow for ongoing developments
* Track project expenditures against budgets, highlighting variances
* Manage accounts payable/receivable, subcontractor payments, and retention schedules
* Ensure compliance with Revenue Commissioners regulations, construction-specific levies, and statutory filings
* Support tendering processes with financial analysis and cost estimates
* Liaise with project managers, QS (Quantity Surveyors), and site teams to provide financial analysis
* Assist with audits and ensure adherence to internal controls
Qualifications & Skills
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
* Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, CPA, or equivalent) preferred
* Minimum 3–5 years' experience in accounting, ideally within construction or property development
* Knowledge of project accounting, contract law basics, and construction finance practices
* Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, or construction-specific ERP systems)
* Advanced MS Excel skills for cost tracking and reporting
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
* Excellent communication skills for liaising with non-financial stakeholders
