Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to support the maintenance and optimization of all site productions and facility equipment used onsite. The Maintenance Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, functionality, and continuous improvement of equipment used in the production and packaging processes. The Maintenance Engineer works to decrease downtime and maximize the uptime of the machines on his/her shift.
Principal Accountabilities
* Acts as a safety leader and put safety first in all responsibilities. Works in conjunction with the EHS Coordinator assure a safe working environment.
* Assist in the maintenance of ensuring all plant and equipment is in good working condition including tooling and associated facilities, by scheduling timely and routine preventative maintenance to improve equipment reliability. This includes support and take part in risk assessments for machine and facilities, including occasions when PMs have to be rescheduled or postponed.
* Support the implementation of our comprehensive maintenance management strategy and system.
* Document maintenance activities clearly and legibly, including current status of actions and close out on actions in a timely manner.
* Review of machines post maintenance with process operator prior to handing back to production
* Assists in the specification for production equipment and the selection, purchase and installation into the plant and when required audits of the maintenance system.
* Monitors contractor safety performance and, when assigned, coordinates contractor activities.
* Monitors spare parts and supply minimum and maximums to ensure a just-in-time inventory is maintained and obsolete parts are recommended for obsolescence in a timely manner.
* Continuously develops skill through external training, on job development and self study of relevant technical material.
* Supports the continuous improvement of the business, both process and performance by applying data analysis and Kaizen techniques.
* Support the CAPA process where customer complaints are related to machine issues
* Ensure the security, fire, and emergency systems are fully operational, routinely tested, and inspected.
* Responsible for tracking and monitoring facility utilities and implementing energy saving initiatives.
* Coordinates with outside vendors when needed, understanding internal limitations and securing outside expertise.
* Demonstrate and foster Amcor’s Purpose, Values & behaviours and actively contributes to a high-performance culture.
* Complies with all company policies and procedures.
* Meet or exceed plant business plan and KPI’s.
* Integrate CI initiatives into the culture of the Plant.
Qualifications/Requirements
* A level 8 degree in project/mechanical electrical engineering or similar with 5 years manufacturing experience, or alternatively at least 5 years' experience within a project engineering role
* Advance computer knowledge (especially in MS Word and Excel).
* Good technical ability and aptitude / skills
* Familiar with lean six sigma
* Experience in Support of improvement & change processes
* Energetic, resilient and professional, with a proven ability to make effective decisions under pressure.
* Experience in thermoforming or plastic moulding industry is desirable.
* Preferably strong knowledge of medical packaging business, customers and suppliers
SPECIFIC SKILLS & ABILITIES
* Drive vision and purpose, using a strategic mindset to set priorities and drive results, keeping a customer focus while being open to suggestions of innovation
* Ability to pay attention to details while meeting critical deadlines with ever changing priorities.
* Use industrial standard troubleshooting tools to resolve issues e.g. DMAIC, 5 Whys etc.
* Knowledge of Kiefel or thermoforming machines would be an advantage.
* Excellent communication skills both oral and written to ensure clear alignment
* Creating clarity from ambiguity
* Must have a positive attitude and open mindedness to new ideas.
