About the Role
The Health & Safety Officer will support site management and operational teams in ensuring compliance with all health, safety, quality and environmental (QHSE) standards at a major industrial site in County Kildare. The successful candidate will help drive a proactive safety culture and ensure full adherence to legal, corporate and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the implementation of the organisation’s health, safety, quality and environmental policies, procedures, and management systems.
* Promote a positive safety culture, ensuring all staff and contractors are aware of their responsibilities and empowered to take appropriate action.
* Conduct and review risk assessments, method statements, and safety documentation.
* Participate in regular meetings with site management and client representatives.
* Monitor compliance with statutory and internal H&S requirements, including audits and inspections.
* Assist in incident investigations and ensure timely close-out of actions.
* Manage and maintain training and compliance records, including identifying training gaps.
* Deliver toolbox talks, safety inductions, and safety awareness sessions.
* Support internal and external audits and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
* Prepare reports, maintain safety documentation, and contribute to management reviews.
* Collaborate with management to identify and implement safety improvements and best practices.
* Manage day-to-day QHSE administration tasks and documentation for the site.
Candidate Requirements
* NFQ Level 7/8 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline (essential).
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within environmental services, manufacturing, or industrial operations.
* Strong understanding of risk assessment, incident investigation and compliance management.
* Chemical awareness and familiarity with handling hazardous materials (essential).
* DGSA certification or chemistry knowledge (desirable).
* Full clean driving licence (essential).
* Excellent communication, IT, and organisational skills.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong stakeholder engagement and report-writing skills.
* Safe Pass certification (desirable).
