Senior Data Engineer Highly skilled and commercially minded Senior Data Engineer required to join a growing data function. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer with deep expertise in investment data platforms and modern cloud data architectures, particularly Snowflake. The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing, building, and optimising enterprise-grade data solutions that support investment, trading, and business decision-making across the organisation. The role requires strong technical capability combined with excellent stakeholder management skills, as you will work closely with senior business leaders, investment teams, and technology stakeholders across the organisation. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable and robust data pipelines and data platforms within a cloud-based architecture. Lead the engineering and optimisation of data solutions leveraging Snowflake and modern ELT/ETL frameworks. Integrate and manage complex investment data sources including Bloomberg, Figaro, and other market/investment platforms. Ensure high levels of data quality, governance, security, and operational resilience across critical investment datasets. Collaborate with investment, operations, risk, finance, and technology teams to deliver data solutions aligned to business objectives. Work directly with senior stakeholders to gather requirements, provide technical guidance, and influence strategic data initiatives. Drive best practices in data engineering, automation, testing, monitoring, and CI/CD. Support the design and implementation of data models optimised for analytics and reporting use cases. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of engineering standards and team capability. Troubleshoot and resolve complex data and platform-related issues across production environments. Required Experience & Skills Minimum 6 years experience in a data engineering role within an investment management, asset management, wealth management, hedge fund, banking, or broader financial services environment. Strong hands-on expertise with Snowflake, including performance optimisation, security, data modelling, and pipeline orchestration. Proven experience working with investment and market data platforms such as Bloomberg, Figaro, and related financial data systems. Strong SQL and Python development skills. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. Experience with modern orchestration and transformation tools (e.g. Airflow, dbt, Informatica, Matillion, or similar). Strong understanding of investment data domains including positions, trades, pricing, reference data, and performance data. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience engaging senior business stakeholders and translating business requirements into technical solutions. Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with a proactive and delivery-focused mindset. Experience working within agile delivery environments. Desirable Skills Experience within front-office or investment-facing technology teams. Knowledge of data governance and regulatory requirements within financial services. Exposure to real-time or streaming data architectures. Experience mentoring or leading technical teams. Relevant cloud or Snowflake certifications.
