We currently have an opportunity in St Joseph's Rehabilitative Training Centre in Galway for a Manager-
12 month Specific Purpose Contract - 39 hours per week.
The Role:
* The post holder has responsibilities for the effective provision and operation of services to adults in Ability West day services
* The post holder will work closely with the Area Services Manager with regard to planning and implementing the effective delivery of services.
* Manage and monitor the annual budget, including staffing and all aspects of expenditure within the centre (central and service user based) and be responsible for operating within approved budgets.
* Guide and direct staff in the provision of the designated programmes and services for people with an intellectual disability operated at and through the adult day services including rehabilitative training programme as required.
* Maintain a person centred planning process in line with Ability West policy and practice.
* Ensure specified programmes meet QQI accreditation requirements where required.
* Ensure person centred plans contain realistic goals that can include opportunities for further education, training, personal development, community integration and progression for the individual.
* Establish, develop and maintain links with internal and external training providers that can benefit service users.,
* Establish, develop and maintain effective links for service users that have the interest and capacity to progress to training and/or supported employment or open employment.
* Support the Day Services Manager and Basic Instructors on delivery of modules/courses as required. These courses will include specific skills as well as social development, personal care, and community integration. Building independence and communication are integral in a rehabilitative training environment.
* Ensure that people we support's individual plans are in line with New Directions Interim standards.
* Act as Person in Charge in the absence of the Area Services Manager- Day Services, as directed. This may include day to day management of other staff, volunteers, students and community outings/visitors.
Essential Criteria:
* Level 8 qualification in Teaching / Nursing / Applied Social Studies / Social Care / Psychology / Behaviour Analysis.
OR
* Level 7 relevant studies for role and minimum 4 years' experience working with people with intellectual disabilities including autism.
* Previous experience working with people with an intellectual disability, complex needs, and communication difficulties.
* Experience in education/training.
* An ability to instruct service users in all programmes offered at Adult Day Centres, and QQI modules delivered in Rehabilitative Training.
* Full current driving license.
Desirable Criteria:
* Experience in developing QQI standard or similar day modules, recording evidence of goals and ambitions.
* Knowledge of Person Centred planning and managing behaviours that challenge.
* Training in communication strategies
