Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 2 within UCD School of Computer Science. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow (PD2) will support University College Dublin's research agenda in low-carbon heating by delivering techno-economic, environmental and policy evidence that enables the deployment of Underground Thermal Energy Storage (UTES) for district heating in Ireland. Key responsibilities include developing spatiotemporal surplus-heat and heat-demand profiles, contributing to an integrated scenario simulation framework for ATES/BTES deployment, and conducting scenario-based performance and flexibility assessments using agreed KPIs (e.g., COP, LCOH, CO2 reduction, renewable utilisation and flexibility indices). The postholder will also support life-cycle and investment-focused analyses (including Monte Carlo DCF and LCA components), and translate findings into stakeholder-ready insights. The role reports to the Principal Investigator in Prof. Mangina's group and will work closely with project partners across UCD, DCU, Codema and industry. The post is expected to contribute day-to-day guidance to student researchers as required. Fixed Salary: €54,850 per annum. Closing date: 12:00 noon (local Irish time) on 15/05/2026.
