Operations Manager – Land OperationsRole OverviewAs Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and efficient running of Dublin Port's land operations. Working as part of a leadership team, you will oversee 24/7 operational safety across several hundred acres, managing staff, contractors, and critical infrastructure. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership, requiring a strong background in port operations, security, or large-scale logistics.Key Responsibilities: -LeadershipLead by example, managing contracted security, and operational staff.Report and escalate incidents impacting operations.Represent Operations at key committees (Emergency Management, Health & Safety, etc.).Conduct regular inspections of staff, equipment, and facilities.Contribute to annual security budget planning.Security & ComplianceEnsure compliance with ISPS Code and EU Directive 2005/65/EC.Investigate, document, and report security incidents.Manage contracted security staff against SLA/KPI standards.Systems & TechnologyOversee critical systems including CCTV, ANPR, fire/intruder alarms, and access control.Manage digital applications (induction, incident reporting).Supervise vehicle scanning, OCR, gantry messaging, and IT pass solutions.EHS & Dangerous GoodsImplement and monitor EHS policies, risk assessments, and safety initiatives.Ensure staff compliance with SOPs, PPE, and safety standards.Administer compliance with Dangerous Goods Bye-laws.Operations ManagementManage Temporary Traffic Management applications.Support adverse weather response plans.Oversee visits, cruise operations, and cargo storage.Stakeholder EngagementBuild strong relationships with operators, agencies, and customers.Actively participate in liaison groups and committees.Contract & Training ManagementManage security contracts, KPIs, and SLA reviews.Ensure staff training is up to date and compliant.Key CompetenciesCore: Integrity, Communication, Decision-making, Problem-solvingLeadership: Self-leadership, Strategic Planning, Leading othersTechnical: Risk Management, Safety/Health/Environment, Partner RelationshipsBehavioural: Critical Thinking, Influencing, Organisation, FlexibilityQualifications & ExperienceEssential:Licensed Security Officer (or equivalent background in Army, Police, Navy, aviation, or marine policing).Alternatively, experience in high-volume supply chain/logistics with dangerous goods across land, sea, or air.Full Irish Driver's Licence.Strong English proficiency and report writing skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office.Experience in Occupational Health & Safety / Risk Management (e.g., OSHAS Experience with CCTV, ANPR, alarms, and access control systems.Desirable:First Aid certification (First Aid Responder, Cardiac First Responder).CPC Driver Licences.Supervisory or managerial experience in maritime, policing, military, security, or logistics.Environmental policy awareness (ISO Training qualifications (QQI Level 6 – Train the Trainer).Additional InformationThe successful candidate will receive training appropriate to the role.Flexibility is essential: early/late shifts required, with one weekend in three on call.A competitive benefits package and clear career progression opportunities are offered.
