Operations Director
We are seeking a commercially aware and delivery-focused operations director to take overall responsibility for the successful execution of our structural steel projects.
About the Role
The role centres on coordinating the performance of key team members including the design manager, quantity surveyor, factory supervisor, and erection supervisor to ensure the seamless delivery of every package from design through fabrication to installation.
Key Responsibilities
* Project oversight and coordination: Take overall accountability for the successful delivery of structural steel projects from design approval to final installation.
* Maintain clear oversight of key project milestones across design, procurement, fabrication, and erection.
* Identify risks to programme and ensure mitigation actions are agreed and implemented promptly.
* Ensure that factory output and site installation are planned in line with live programme requirements.
* Commercial oversight: Support the quantity surveyor in managing budgets, variations, valuations, and contractual notices.
* Maintain awareness of cost performance and ensure commercial risks or opportunities are flagged early.
* Design coordination: Oversee the design management process ensuring information is released in a timely, coordinated, and constructible manner.
* Escalate and resolve delays or technical queries that could affect fabrication or site works.
About You
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successfully managing multi-stage projects from technical design through to production and final delivery on-site.
A strong understanding of project lifecycles that include drawing approval, workshop/factory output, logistics, and site execution is essential.
You should have excellent planning, coordination, and team leadership skills across technical, production, and site-based teams.
A confident communicator who builds trust with colleagues, subcontractors, and clients is required.
