As part of our Global Procurement team you’ll play a pivotal role in not only contributing to performance but also building and protecting Diageo’s reputation across our supply base. About this role
The Diageo Europe Indirects Procurement team has always been a significant contributor towards Diageo productivity and growth goals and is considered a trusted and respected partner internally and externally.
Most recently, the total Europe Procurement Team reviewed its ambition for the next 2‑3 years and has a very clear strategy to exponentially increase the value it brings to Diageo. The new strategic priorities are: next generation of investment optimization, building appropriate networks, driving stakeholder sufficiency, enhancing digitalisation opportunities, and accelerating the delivery of our ESG ambition.
The Category Manager for Indirects Europe is a critical leadership role as part of the Europe Procurement Leadership Team. It will steer this next chapter and play a business partnering role with key European executive members.
The Indirects category scope includes Facilities and Real Estate, Fleet, HR, outsourced services to enable our Route to Customer/Consumer model, Legal, Corporate Responsibility and Consultancy.
The spend of direct influence for this role is ca. $450m and the role has accountability for delivering financial and non‑financial targets through the deployment of Global and Europe category strategies.
Core activities/deliverables
* Responsible for managing the total Indirects procurement scope through brilliant execution including sourcing, supplier relationship management and development.
* Responsible for managing and developing a direct team of category specialists.
* Deliver financial and non‑financial critical metrics.
* Ownership of the annual planning cycle for Europe Indirects as part of the overall global process.
* Drive and support best practice and innovative models for sourcing, cost models, benchmarking, SRM/SPM and e‑sourcing – working closely with Global Procurement and other in‑market Procurement teams.
* Lead and support on the DSC roll‑out in Europe including embedding Fairmarkit and supporting the integrated ecosystems improvements.
* Partner with Global Procurement Category teams on relevant market insights, input and builds for all category strategy and benchmarking work.
* Lead local market sourcing and support global sourcing and supplier relationship management activity across Indirects categories.
* Ultimately accountable for key external suppliers/agencies in the defined categories to improve commercial advantage, minimise risk and assure quality of delivery and performance.
* Lead procurement productivity agenda identifying and implementing transformational behavioural changes beyond immediate functional responsibilities.
About you
* Have Procurement or Commercial or Consultancy experience in an FMCG environment.
* Proven experience in key procurement skills including strategy development, negotiations (complex / multi‑country), analysis (cost drivers), forecasting and benchmarking, ideally in a Marketing Procurement context.
* Strong knowledge of financial drivers to shape procurement strategies. Proven experience taking informed, calculated risks to achieve substantial strategic gains.
* Strong analytical skills with a forensic understanding of cost drivers to target and influence costs through end‑to‑end value.
* Ability to work in an agile, fast‑moving and ambiguous environment and keep up with the pace of change and prioritise according to business needs.
* Strong communication and influencing skills and personal impact to gain credibility quickly with senior stakeholders and generate followership.
