Head of Fresh Are you a strategic senior trading leader with deep FMCG buying experience and a proven track record of driving commercial performance across Fresh categories?
My client, a leading retail and wholesale business operating nationally, is seeking a Head of Fresh to lead the commercial strategy and financial performance across Fresh and associated departments.
This is a senior leadership role within the Trading Department, reporting to the Trading Director, with responsibility for delivering ambitious trading plans, strengthening supplier partnerships, and leading the Fresh Trading Team.
Package Competitive salary DOE Car Allowance Bonus Pension Agile working Responsibilities of the Head of Fresh include: Lead the delivery of sales and margin budgets across Fresh and Central Billing divisions Achieve budgeted LTA, marketing income and all other buying income targets Develop and deliver ambitious commercial strategies and project plans for Fresh categories in collaboration with cross-functional teams Negotiate and improve group terms and conditions in line with overall trading policy and strategy Build and execute partnership agendas with key preferred supplier partners Manage and develop a portfolio of key suppliers and brands to maximise commercial performance Oversee range development, including product selection, introducing new brands and de-listing existing ranges as required Maintain and improve retailer gross margins, ensuring the retailer price file is maintained, reviewed and updated Drive and protect the Retailer Benefit Programme within the Fresh supplier base through ongoing negotiations Identify new commercial opportunities and suppliers to deliver profitable sales growth Ensure customer and retailer requirements are met in terms of range, pricing, presentation and promotions Support own brand/house brand development in partnership with the Private Label Manager Conduct regular retailer visits to identify opportunities and drive sales development Ensure the team proactively manages regulatory, legislative and revenue changes impacting the division Collaborate across commercial and replenishment teams to ensure the division operates effectively and efficiently Requirements for the Head of Fresh include: Significant experience in a senior buying/trading role within FMCG (Fresh category experience highly advantageous) Strong commercial and financial management capability with proven results against margin and income targets Exceptional negotiation and influencing skills with experience managing senior supplier relationships Strategic thinker with strong planning, execution and project delivery skills Proven leadership experience with the ability to develop and motivate high-performing teams Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Results-driven mindset with the ability to operate at pace in a complex retail environment Aoife Clarke is handling the recruitment for this role in complete confidentiality.
