Job Title: Care Assistant Location: Ballinamore House Nursing Home Reports to: Director of Nursing / Nurse in Charge Job Purpose To provide high-quality, person-centred care to residents, supporting their physical, emotional, social, and psychological wellbeing while promoting dignity, independence, and choice at all times.
Working Arrangements Day and/or night shifts available Full-time and part-time positions 12-hour shifts operated Key Responsibilities Deliver personal care to residents, including assistance with washing, dressing, toileting, mobility, and continence care Support residents with eating and drinking, ensuring nutritional and hydration needs are met Promote residents independence and encourage participation in daily activities Observe, monitor, and report changes in residents condition to nursing staff Assist nurses with clinical and non-clinical duties as required Maintain accurate records in line with nursing home policies and HIQA standards Provide emotional support and companionship to residents Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents Adhere to infection prevention and control procedures Respect residents privacy, dignity, cultural beliefs, and personal preferences Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team Follow all Ballinamore House Nursing Home policies, procedures, and health & safety guidelines Essential Requirements QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support (or willingness to work towards it) Genuine interest in caring for older people Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work as part of a team and independently Compassionate, patient, and reliable nature Flexibility to work day and/or night shifts, including weekends Eligibility to work in Ireland Experience Previous experience in a nursing home or healthcare setting is desirable but not essential, as full training and support will be provided Skills & Attributes Caring and empathetic approach Strong observational skills Respectful and professional attitude Good time management and organisational skills What We Offer Supportive and friendly working environment Ongoing training and professional development Opportunities for career progression Competitive rates of pay
