Job Description
We are seeking an experienced professional to fill the role of Assistant Accountant in our Finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the operational management of our day-to-day ledgers and reconciliations, working closely with the Finance team to ensure the accuracy and integrity of transactional data processing.
The Assistant Accountant will play a key role in preparing schedules that feed into our monthly management accounts, identifying variances and developing narrative explanations for the Executive Leadership Team and the Board's Audit and Risk Committee.

Essential Skills:
* Active study towards ACCA/ACA/CIMA/CPA qualification (Diploma level minimum)
* Minimum 3 years' experience in reconciliation and ledger management
* Advanced Excel skills and finance system literacy (Sage 50 or Oracle Netsuite experience)
* Understanding of public sector financial procedures
Desirable Skills:
* Near-qualified or newly qualified accountants
* Experience working in the not-for-profit or grant-funding sector
* Payroll experience
* NetSuite and PowerBI experience
* Experience with VAT/RCT/PSWT for public bodies

Benefits
This is a fixed-term 2-year contract with a salary scale at Higher Executive Officer Standard Scale. The appointment will be made on this scale at a point in line with the current Government Pay Policy.
