BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND – WEST REGION POSTS: TEAM LEADER (Social Care Leader / CNM1 grade) 1 X Permanent Full-Time Team Leader HYDE ADULT SERVICES (Roscommon Town, Kilteevan, Athleague, Tremane/Rahara) Ref: ***** A panel may be formed as a result of this process from which subsequent Team Leader appointments within the Hyde Service location may be offered over the next 6 to 12 months.

The Role: The Team Leader has a pivotal role in managing the day to day delivery of services.
The Team Leader will provide leadership and supervision to teams while ensuring the development of the service in line with national standards and best practice.
The main responsibilities are to assist the Team Manager with the management of the services, such as – person centred planning in line with Personal Outcome Measures ethos and practice, resource management and staffing - including rosters, staff development, facilitating communication and professional leadership in order to ensure a good quality of life for the people supported.

It is the Team Leader's responsibility to ensure that the life of each person reflects the organisation's core values:

Dignity, respect and a rights based model Promoting independence in all areas of life through exposure, experience and education Promoting friendships and relationships in ordinary places in the community and making a contribution Making choices Qualifications/Experience: Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition have:

(I)A relevant 3rd level qualification in Nursing and current Live Register Certificate from NMBI

OR

(II)Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Social Care Workers Register maintained by the Social Care Workers Registration Board at CORU.

(III)Hold a schedule 3 qualification (see below Note 1*)

(IV)Hold a comparable qualification recognised by Social Care Workers Registration Board at CORU

OR

(V) Applicants who satisfy the conditions set out in Section 91 of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act ****, (see below Note 2*) must submit proof of application for registration with the Social Care Workers Registration Board at CORU.
The acceptable proof is correspondence from the Social Care Workers Registration Board at CORU confirming their application for registration as a Section 91 applicant was received by the 30th November ****.

AND

An appropriate qualification in Health and Social Care Management (QQI Level 6) is a necessary requirement of the post.
If the successful applicant does not hold such a qualification, a commitment to obtaining the qualification prior to taking up the post will be required.
A full clean manual Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish Roads is an essential requirement.
It may also be necessary for the appointee to obtain a Class D1 Driving Licence (if not already in possession of one).
Assistance will be given towards this purpose of obtaining a class D1 licence.
Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post.
Note 1* Schedule 3 Qualifications.
This is a qualification listed in Schedule 3 of the Health and Social Care Professions Act **** for existing practitioners under section 91.
Candidates who hold Schedule 3 qualifications can apply to register with CORU during the two year period after the register opens up to the 30th November ****.
Once the transitional period is over 30th November ****, only qualifications approved by a Registration board will be considered.

Note 2* Section 91 candidates are individuals who qualified before 30th November **** and have been engaged in the practice of the profession in the Republic of Ireland for a minimum of 2 years fulltime (or an aggregate of 2 years fulltime), between 30th November **** and 30th November **** are considered to be Section 91 applicants under the Health and Social Care Professionals Act ****.

Experience: Previous experience of effectively managing a staff team and demonstrating proven ability to pro-actively lead, motivate, empower and achieve results through people is an advantage.
A minimum of three 3 years' post qualification experience, working with people with an Intellectual Disability is essential.
A minimum of 3 years' experience as relevant to the role.
Experience working with individuals with an intellectual disability and individuals with challenging behavior is desirable.
Full training will be provided.
Experience of working in the area of autism and behaviours of concern would be an advantage.
Experience in the area of goal setting and programme implementation through a person centered approach is also desirable.
Working within a staff team and shift leading at times.
Skills: Candidates must demonstrate:

Leadership and networking skills - Staff will be expected to network with local community groups and develop positive links for the individuals who use the service.
Demonstrate a clear commitment to community integration and active citizenship for all people with disabilities with experience in the area of human rights and advocacy.
Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to support goal setting, putting goals into action and following through to the achievement of outcomes The ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms and excellent report writing and record keeping skills Creativity, initiative and self-motivation Commitment to current best practice internationally and co-operating in an interdisciplinary team environment with a person-centred philosophy The ability to exercise good judgement, discretion and confidentiality Excellent listening skills, patience and a sense of humour Working Hours: Contracted hours will depend on the grade of the successful candidate - i.e. 78 hours a fortnight (SCL grade) or 75 hours a fortnight (CNM1 grade) rostered flexibly on a 7 day duty roster.

The Team leader will work as a frontline member of the team with protected time to carry out specific team leader duties.
In addition, a sleep-in and/or night duty commitment may be a requirement of posts in residential services for which the appropriate allowance will be paid.

The Brothers of Charity Services model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.

Annual Leave: Leave will be granted according to the agreed leave assigned to the grade of the successful candidates i.e. Social Care Leader or CNM1.
Annual leave must be planned in advance with the Team Manager to ensure appropriate and adequate cover is provided for the service.

Remuneration: Based on the salary scale attached to the grade of the successful candidates i.e. Social Care Leader or CNM1.

Tenure: Permanent, Full-Time and Pensionable.
